About Me

Thanks for stopping by my blog. I hope that while you are here you find food for thought about reading, teaching and learning.

I am Manager of District Partnerships with The Center for the Collaborative Classroom, I was a professor of Reading Education at East Stroudsburg University of Pennsylvania. I taught undergraduate and graduate level courses with a focus on assessment and evaluation in literacy, reading and language development for diverse learners, and Reading Clinic for K-8 struggling readers. Prior to teaching at the university, I spent 21 years as a classroom teacher, reading specialist, elementary school administrator, and district reading supervisor in the public school system. I earned a doctoral degree in Educational Leadership from Nova Southeastern University. I earned a Bachelor of Science degree and Masters of Arts degree in Elementary Education from Hunter College. My research interest in metacognition has led me to investigations of the metacognitive awareness of pre-service and in-service teachers. I have done several presentations on the impact of metacognitive awareness at state, national and international literacy conferences.
